Esko and GlobalVision launch Verify Comply, an AI assistant for packaging artwork compliance

Esko and GlobalVision have launched Verify Comply, an AI-powered compliance assistant that checks packaging artwork, labels and packaging against regulatory requirements and internal brand standards. Unveiled on 18 October, it is the first joint product since Esko acquired GlobalVision earlier this year, and it targets one of the industry’s most persistent pain points: getting compliant packaging to market quickly without errors.

Verify Comply is available both within the Esko WebCenter packaging management platform and as a standalone product. It combines document understanding with centralised, reusable rulebooks that teams can use to standardise reviews across products, markets, agencies and packaging suppliers, replacing the manual, fragmented compliance checks that many organisations still rely on.

The mechanics are straightforward but powerful. Teams create and maintain rulebooks that codify regulatory requirements, brand standards and packaging specifications, then apply them across SKUs, markets and production workflows. The AI interprets elements such as claims, nutritional and supplement facts, allergens, panels and copy, comparing the artwork against the defined requirements to flag missing, incorrect or non-compliant content before it becomes a costly mistake.

Srinivas Kuppa, chief product officer at Esko, said Verify Comply represents more than a product combination, reflecting the union of Esko and GlobalVision’s complementary strengths to solve a persistent industry challenge: moving packaging to market faster without compromising quality or compliance. WebCenter customers can run the rulebooks and checks directly inside existing workflows and against packaging data already stored in the platform, avoiding disruptive tool switching.

Jonathan Rossy, director of the GlobalVision product line at Esko, explained that compliance reviews have become a major source of complexity for packaging and labelling teams. With rising regulatory requirements, expanding product portfolios and pressure to reach market faster, teams need a smarter way to catch risks before they turn into expensive errors. Verify Comply uses AI to automate and strengthen verification, reducing manual effort, improving accuracy and accelerating the path from artwork creation to approved packaging.

The launch lands at a moment when regulatory and retailer requirements are multiplying. Labels and packs must carry correct claims, allergen declarations and nutritional panels that vary by market, and a single omission can trigger recalls, fines or delays. Automating that review with reusable, auditable rulebooks reduces both risk and the labour of repeated manual checks.

For brand owners and converters, the value is consistency at scale. A rulebook applied across every SKU and market means a claim or panel is judged by the same yardstick every time, removing the ambiguity that fuels disputes and rework. That repeatability is especially valuable for global brands managing hundreds of variants through multiple agencies and suppliers.

The AI-assistant framing also reflects a wider trend of embedding intelligence into prepress and artwork workflows, where the cost of human error is high and the volume of repetitive checking is large. By automating the first-pass compliance screen, Verify Comply frees specialists to focus on judgement calls rather than line-by-line verification.

As Esko integrates GlobalVision’s verification heritage into its WebCenter ecosystem, the release hints at a future where compliance is continuously assured inside the workflow rather than bolted on at the end, a shift that could redefine how packaging approvals are managed across the industry. Ultimately, Verify Comply is a pragmatic use of AI in packaging, not a spectacle but a tool that quietly reduces risk and speeds approval.

The launch also reflects a broader consolidation trend in packaging software. By acquiring GlobalVision earlier this year and now fusing its verification heritage into the WebCenter ecosystem, Esko is assembling an end-to-end platform that spans specification, artwork creation, approval and compliance. For brand owners drowning in variant complexity across markets and agencies, a single governed environment that encodes regulatory and brand rules once and applies them everywhere reduces both risk and rework. The AI layer simply makes that governance faster and more consistent, catching the missing allergen panel or incorrect claim before it becomes a recall, fine or delay.

For the wider prepress community, Verify Comply is a pragmatic demonstration of what useful AI looks like in packaging: not a generative novelty but an assistant that automates the first-pass compliance screen and frees specialists for judgement calls. As regulatory and retailer requirements multiply, the economics of manual, fragmented review break down, and reusable, auditable rulebooks become the only scalable answer. If adopted widely, such tools could shift compliance from a back-end bottleneck to a continuous, embedded check, reshaping how packaging approvals are managed and quietly raising the floor on quality across the industry.

The timing is also notable because it arrives as brands face simultaneous pressure to move faster and to comply tighter, two goals that traditionally pull against each other. Verify Comply’s promise is to reconcile them, speeding artwork-to-approval while hardening compliance, and its availability both inside WebCenter and as a standalone product gives organisations a path to adopt without a wholesale platform change. That flexibility, more than any single feature, may determine how quickly the industry embraces AI-assisted compliance as standard practice rather than experimental add-on.
