Canon Production Printing Australia has rounded out its national sales team with two senior business development manager appointments: Damian Schaller, based in Brisbane, and Justin Kirkland, based in Sydney. The hires complete the company’s customer-facing sales roster and reinforce its commitment to supporting print service providers across the country at a time when buyers expect consultative advice on production inkjet, embellishment and workflow.
Two Career Paths, One Customer Focus
Schaller returns to Canon Production Printing Australia with more than 20 years of international professional printing experience spanning sales, marketing, product management, sales excellence, and learning and development. He has held senior roles with Canon and Océ in Australia and Switzerland, most recently serving as European learning and development consultant with Canon Europe, delivering sales and product training across Europe, Africa and the Middle East. That training background means he arrives with a deep understanding of how print technology translates into customer outcomes.
Kirkland brings 20 years of print and graphics industry experience with deep expertise in wide format and customer-focused business development. He previously served as a business development manager with Canon Production Printing and has since held senior account management roles in the industry, where he was named the 2024 Fespa Future Leader. His return strengthens the Sydney-facing side of the team and brings recognized young-leader credentials to a market that values both heritage and fresh perspective.
What the Appointments Signal
“We are delighted to welcome Damian and Justin to the team,” said Steven Badger, head of sales and professional services at Canon Production Printing Australia. “Their industry knowledge, customer focus and Canon experience complete our national sales team and further strengthen our ability to support print service providers with the right solutions for long-term success.” Completing the team suggests Canon sees sustained demand for production printing investment in the Australasian market despite broader economic caution.
Context for the Local Market
Australian and New Zealand printers have been among the early adopters of production inkjet and high-value digital, and vendor presence on the ground influences who wins placements. With both hires carrying prior Canon and Océ heritage plus fresh external perspective, the team blends institutional knowledge with wider industry exposure. For local print service providers, a full and experienced sales bench translates into faster, better-informed conversations about capital investments — exactly the kind of support shops need as they weigh automation and modernization decisions in a tightening labor market.
