MultiCam unveils next-generation Strata One routing technology

MultiCam has announced the launch of its next-generation STRATA One routing technology, a CNC platform built for the demanding cutting and machining needs of modern print, sign, display and industrial workshops. STRATA One is powered by MultiCam’s newly developed Pegasus controller and signature Coreo operator software, which combined with reliable industrial CNC engineering deliver an improved operator experience and enhanced diagnostics for long-term durability.

Performance is the headline. STRATA One delivers cutting speeds of 1,500 IPM (635 mm/sec) and Rapid Traverse speeds of 2,121 IPM (898 mm/sec), making it suitable for soft and hard plastics, paper, foam, non-ferrous materials, composites and wood. Five table sizes are available, allowing customers to match the right router to their business and application requirements rather than over- or under-buying capacity.

Standard features on the STRATA One include heavy, all-steel frame construction; 25 mm linear ball-bearing profile rails; an automatic material surface probe and tool calibration sensor; a three-axis motion control system; a vacuum table; an all-axis servo drive system; EZ Suite Software; and a pneumatic dust boot. Those fundamentals are what keep a router accurate and productive through years of daily use in busy shops.

Users can add further options to tailor the machine: 10 HP collet spindles; 2 mm and 5 mm electric oscillating knives; quick-change and automatic knife tool changers; a spindle tool changer; coolant mist systems for non-ferrous metals; the MultiVision digital registration system; pop-up alignment pins; a pump; a laser pointer; and surface mapping. That breadth of tooling lets one platform handle everything from rigid sign board to gasket materials to light metal work.

MultiCam is part of the Kongsberg PCS group, a connection that matters for buyers weighing service, spares and long-term platform investment. The grouping gives MultiCam access to a deeper engineering and support network, and signals that STRATA One is positioned as a serious production tool rather than a hobbyist machine.

The launch lands as sign and display, print finishing and custom fabrication converge. Shops that once ran separate cutters for vinyl, board and foam now prefer a single, fast, well-supported router that can be re-tooled for the job at hand. STRATA One’s speed and tool-changing flexibility speak directly to that consolidation trend, reducing the number of specialist machines a business must own and maintain.

Diagnostics and software are increasingly the differentiators in this category. Coreo and EZ Suite aim to simplify setup, calibration and routine work while giving operators the data to spot problems before they become downtime. For high-mix, low-volume environments where every job is different, that usability can outweigh raw speed in determining real-world throughput.

With the Pegasus controller at its core, STRATA One represents MultiCam’s bet that the next generation of routing will be won on integration, accuracy and uptime as much as on feed rates. For workshops scaling from manual finishing to automated cutting, it offers a clearly specified, expandable path into CNC productivity.

For established shops, the upgrade question is rarely about speed alone but about total cost of ownership, and STRATA One’s standard diagnostics and tooling options are pitched squarely at keeping that cost predictable as volumes rise. The platform’s real-world appeal lies in consolidation: a single fast, well-supported router that can be re-tooled for vinyl, board, foam, light metal and composites reduces the number of specialist machines a business must own, train for and maintain. Coreo and EZ Suite aim to simplify setup, calibration and routine work while giving operators data to catch problems before they become downtime, which in high-mix, low-volume environments often matters more than peak feed rate. MultiCam’s place in the Kongsberg PCS group adds weighting to the purchase, since buyers weigh service, spares and long-term platform investment as heavily as specifications, and a deeper engineering network reassures them about longevity. With cutting at 1,500 IPM and a broad option list, STRATA One reads as MultiCam’s bet that the next generation of routing will be won on integration, accuracy and uptime as much as on raw velocity, offering shops a clearly specified, expandable path from manual finishing into CNC productivity. The five table sizes are the practical expression of that strategy, letting a buyer start at the footprint that matches today’s work and grow into larger formats without abandoning the controller, software and operator training already in place.

Ultimately STRATA One is aimed at the shop that wants one router to do the work of several, with the diagnostics to keep it running and the options to keep it relevant. In a market where labour is scarce and jobs are varied, that flexibility is the feature that protects the investment long after the headline speed has been forgotten.

In practice the router’s value shows up on Monday morning, when a shop must switch from foam to board to a short acrylic job without losing the day to reconfiguration. STRATA One’s tooling and software are built for exactly that reality, and that everyday flexibility is what protects the investment long after the specification sheet has been filed away.
