An Australian print franchise just beat the giants on trust — and the lesson is about people, not presses

In an industry obsessed with the newest press and the biggest plant, an Australian print franchise just won a stack of national awards by focusing on something far harder to buy: trust. Worldwide, the national design and print franchise network, has taken the number-one ranking for Brand, Innovation, Marketing and Support in the 2026 Topfranchise Awards — and came second overall.

Here’s why that matters more than a trophy shelf. The Topfranchise Awards are run by 10 Thousand Feet Research and are based squarely on feedback from current franchisees, across six areas: Brand, Innovation, Lifestyle, Marketing, Passion and Support. Worldwide placed first in four of those six categories, third in Passion and fifth in Lifestyle. In other words, the people actually running the businesses said: this network has our back.

Rob Dallimore, Worldwide’s managing director, was quick to point out that the result meant the most precisely because it came from franchisees talking about their real experience. “Trust and culture are things we work incredibly hard at across Worldwide,” he said. His argument is simple but easy to get wrong: franchisees need to know they can have open conversations, get the support they need, and be part of a network that genuinely wants them to succeed.

That’s the unglamorous secret of a durable print business in 2026. Anyone can lease a digital press. What’s rare is a franchise system where the support office actually supports, where marketing is local and national at the same time, where the technology and online ordering actually work, and where the product range keeps widening. Worldwide has spent years investing in exactly those things — national and local marketing, tech and online ordering solutions, an expanded product and service range, and operational backing for franchisees.

And the breadth of what they offer tells you how the model works. Through its national franchise network, Worldwide provides graphic design, print, promotional products, signage and customised software solutions. That’s a one-stop shop for the small business owner who doesn’t want to juggle a dozen suppliers. For a franchisee, selling across all of those categories means steadier revenue and deeper client relationships.

Dallimore also framed the recognition as a recruiting tool — both for established print business owners thinking about the next stage of their journey, and for people curious about becoming franchisees. In a market where experienced operators are weighing whether to go independent or join a network, an award built on franchisee voice is a powerful signal.

The bigger lesson, though, is the one Dallimore keeps circling back to: a strong network is built on the relationships between the people in it. Worldwide has now been operating in Australia for 30 years, and the managing director is clear that the result belongs as much to the franchisees and the support-office team as to the brand itself.

For every print business owner reading this, the takeaway is uncomfortable but useful. You can out-spend competitors on equipment. You can’t fake a culture where people trust you. Worldwide just proved that the firms winning the long game are the ones that treat their people — and their partners — as the actual product.
