Amtech launches embedded AI email-intake agent for corrugated quoting

Pennsylvania-based Amtech Software has launched an embedded AI agent for email intake within Amtech Quick Quote (AQQ), its quoting application, to speed up RSC and HSC quoting for the corrugated sector. The release is the latest sign that the AI story in print and packaging is shifting from dashboard novelty toward embedded, task-specific agents that remove a concrete manual step on the front office rather than generating text for its own sake.

Fast quoting is critical to winning orders, yet it is time-consuming and heavily influenced by volume. A large share of quoting time goes on manual transcription: opening an inbound request, finding the dimensions, board, style and quantity buried in it, and typing them into a form. The email-intake agent reads the request and its attachments and drafts one or more spec lines, so the estimator’s first touch moves the process forward instead of starting it from scratch. For a corrugated plant fielding dozens of inbound enquiries a day, that acceleration compounds quickly across the sales pipeline.

Every extracted value is shown with a confidence level, and information missing from the email text or attachment is clearly marked. Customer-service staff and estimators retain control of the process, adding value through oversight and decision-making rather than data entry. That human-in-the-loop design is the sensible posture for any AI touching live pricing: the agent proposes, the expert approves, and the risk of a silent misquote is contained by an auditable confidence score on every field.

“Agentic AI presents incredible opportunities and Amtech’s Product and Engineering teams are proud to deliver embedded capabilities to the corrugated industry,” said Danna Nelson, SVP of products at Amtech Software. “The forward-thinking plant leaders that comprise our AI Council have clearly stated their focus on measurably improving revenue, costs, and productivity. Our Email Intake Agent in Amtech Quick Quote provides customers with immediate revenue and productivity value and, being an Amtech-delivered solution, delivers innovation to the front office while managing supportability for their IT departments.” The reference to an AI Council is telling: Amtech is sourcing its roadmap from the operators who will live with the tool, not from a vendor’s lab.

AQQ builds on Amtech’s May 2026 acquisition of Clarico Systems, providing a quote-to-order process for plants using the Amtech ecosystem. EnCore master data flows into AQQ and is kept current, and a won quote is written back into EnCore as a spec and a quote without anyone re-keying it. That closed loop – enquiry in, order record out, no re-entry – is where the productivity gain is realized, because the saving is not just the drafting but the elimination of the transcription errors that follow when the same numbers are typed twice.

The corrugated segment is a fitting first home for this agent. Box specs are structured enough that an AI can parse them reliably, yet high enough in volume that shaving minutes per quote changes a plant’s effective sales capacity. It is also a segment where the estimator’s judgement – board grade, combined loads, die options – remains decisive, so an agent that drafts and flags rather than decides fits the work culture.

The competitive read is that MIS/ERP vendors are racing to wrap AI around quoting and preflight, and the differentiators are becoming obvious: does the AI remove a manual step, or merely summarize? Amtech’s email-intake agent is a bet on the former, delivered inside an ecosystem its customers already run. For the broader print-software field, the lesson is that embedded, governed agents tied to a customer’s own master data will win adoption faster than generic chat assistants bolted onto a portal.

For corrugated converters, the practical payoff is a faster, more accurate first touch on every enquiry at a time when sales cycles are shortening and skilled estimators are scarce. Amtech’s move is a clear marker that agentic AI in packaging has moved from conference talking point to shipped feature, and the plants on its AI Council are likely to be the first to convert that capability into quoted, won work.

For the wider print and packaging software field, Amtech’s move is a useful benchmark: the AI features that stick are the ones tied to a customer’s own master data and a real workflow, not a generic assistant bolted onto a login page. By delivering the agent inside Quick Quote and wiring it back to EnCore, Amtech avoids the integration tax that sinks many point solutions, and its AI Council structure gives the roadmap a steady stream of operator feedback. The corrugated segment is an ideal proving ground because its specs are structured yet high in volume, and if the email-intake agent clears the confidence and accuracy bar its customers set, it will become the template other MIS vendors copy across folding carton, label and flexible packaging quoting.
