Konica Minolta has released AccurioPro Color Manager (APCM) version 2.3, adding cloud analytics, historical reporting, and intelligent operator assistance to its production color management platform. The update is designed to help commercial print providers maintain consistent color quality across multiple presses and locations while reducing the level of specialist expertise traditionally required.
The most significant change is a new cloud integration framework that connects APCM2 with AccurioPro CloudEye. Production measurement data, including validation results, color performance, density values, dot gain, and printer status, can now be monitored from virtually any device. Instead of relying on simple pass-or-fail verification, operators and managers gain access to detailed analytics that show how color consistency evolves across the production environment.
This cloud connectivity also enables long-term trend analysis. By storing validation data in the cloud, organizations can track performance over months or years, detect gradual color drift before it becomes visible to customers, and take corrective action proactively. Standardized configurations can be shared across multiple facilities and partner locations, making it easier to maintain consistent output in distributed manufacturing operations.
For many print service providers, this addresses a persistent operational challenge. Color management has historically depended on skilled operators who can interpret measurement data, diagnose problems, and adjust settings. Those skills are valuable but scarce. APCM2 v2.3 attempts to democratize color control through two features: Smart Color Sequence Setup and Smart Color Sequence Recovery.
Smart Color Sequence Setup automatically determines the appropriate calibration process based on the specific press and controller configuration. This removes guesswork for operators who may not have deep color management experience. Smart Color Sequence Recovery guides users through corrective actions when validation results fall outside acceptable tolerances, turning a potentially complex diagnostic process into a step-by-step workflow.
The platform also integrates with Konica Minolta’s IQ-501 and IQ-601 Intelligent Quality Optimizers, which automate calibration and quality control. Together, these tools reduce manual intervention and simplify routine production management. The goal is to make advanced color management accessible to operators with varying levels of experience while still delivering professional results.
Karl-Friedrich Edenhuizen, Product Manager for Color Devices at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe, said the release reflects the company’s commitment to helping customers streamline operations, enhance quality, and unlock productivity. “With AccurioPro Color Manager v2.3, Konica Minolta continues to strengthen its commitment to helping customers streamline operations, enhance quality, and unlock new levels of productivity,” he said.
The update arrives at a time when the production print industry is moving from periodic calibration toward continuous, data-driven quality management. Presses are becoming more connected, measurement devices more sophisticated, and customer expectations more demanding. Brand owners increasingly expect consistent color not just within a single job, but across multiple runs, multiple sites, and multiple substrates.
Cloud-based color management also supports sustainability goals. By catching drift early and standardizing settings across sites, print providers can reduce waste, rework, and unnecessary make-ready sheets. Fewer failed jobs mean less substrate, ink, and energy consumed.
For competitors, APCM2 v2.3 raises the bar for what a color management platform should offer. It is no longer enough to provide profiling and verification. Modern platforms need to aggregate data, visualize trends, guide operators, and integrate with broader automation systems. Konica Minolta’s approach combines these capabilities in a single package.
The release also reflects a broader pattern in print manufacturing. As margins tighten and labor costs rise, vendors are under pressure to make their systems easier to operate and more autonomous. Software that reduces reliance on individual experts while improving consistency is likely to become increasingly attractive to mid-sized print service providers.
Whether APCM2 v2.3 becomes a market leader will depend on how well it integrates with non-Konica Minolta devices and third-party workflows. Cloud-based color management is most powerful when it spans an entire production floor, not just one manufacturer’s presses. Konica Minolta will need to demonstrate that its open interfaces and data formats can support heterogeneous environments.
For now, the message is clear: color management is becoming the cloud-connected brain of the modern print shop.

The competitive landscape for color management is intensifying. Other vendors, including GMG, EFI, and various independent software providers, are also adding cloud, analytics, and automation features to their platforms. Konica Minolta’s advantage may lie in the tight integration between its hardware, measurement devices, and software. However, customers with mixed fleets will evaluate whether APCM2 can add value across their entire operation, not just their Konica Minolta presses.
Adoption will also depend on how the cloud features are priced and how data security is handled. Print service providers are often cautious about uploading production data to external servers, especially when jobs include sensitive client materials. Konica Minolta will need to demonstrate robust security, clear data ownership policies, and flexible deployment options to win over conservative customers.
