FESPA Goes Back to Munich in 2027 — Here’s Why the Move Matters for Europe’s Print Community

FESPA has confirmed what many in the European print community were hoping for: the Global Print Expo and its co-located events are heading back to Munich in 2027.

The dates are set — Tuesday 6 to Friday 9 April 2027 at Messe Munich. Alongside the main expo, the event will host European Sign Expo, Personalisation Experience, WrapFest, and Textile, plus the return of the FESPA Awards, World Wrap Masters, and Club FESPA.

For anyone who attended FESPA 2023 at the same venue, the choice makes sense. Messe Munich is one of Europe’s leading trade fair venues — modern facilities, excellent international and local transport links, and a proven track record of hosting FESPA events successfully. The 2023 edition worked well there, and the organization clearly sees Munich as a reliable platform for its flagship event.

Michael Ryan, Head of FESPA Global Print Expo, framed the move as both strategic and personal: “Following this year’s show in Barcelona, I’m delighted to confirm that FESPA Global Print Expo and its co-located events will return to Munich in 2027. We look forward to being back in Germany to strengthen our connections with regional markets and reconnect with our German community.”

That “German community” reference is significant. Germany remains Europe’s largest printing market, and the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) represents a substantial share of FESPA’s visitor and exhibitor base. Barcelona in 2026 was a strong show, but Munich puts the event right in the heart of the market that drives much of the industry’s equipment investment and technology adoption.

The return of the FESPA Awards and World Wrap Masters alongside the main expo adds depth to the event offering. These programs have been popular elements of FESPA shows — the Awards celebrate technical excellence and creative achievement, while World Wrap Masters brings competitive energy and practical demonstrations. Having them back in 2027 makes the Munich edition feel more complete than a standalone expo.

Ryan also expressed confidence about Munich’s potential: “I’m confident that Munich will offer a wealth of opportunities across print, signage, wrapping, textiles and more.”

That breadth of coverage is increasingly important. The print industry isn’t just about presses anymore — it spans signage, vehicle wrapping, textile decoration, personalisation, and corrugated packaging. FESPA’s co-located events structure reflects that reality, giving visitors access to multiple specialisms in one trip.

The timing — early April — positions FESPA 2027 as the first major European print event of the year, which typically means strong attendance from buyers making annual investment decisions. Exhibitors who want early-year visibility will find this slot attractive.

Further details will emerge after this year’s Barcelona show (19-22 May 2026), which will likely set the tone and provide insights that shape the 2027 edition’s content and format.

For the European print community, the Munich announcement is more than a venue choice. It’s a signal that FESPA continues to invest in its flagship event’s scale, scope, and geographic positioning — and that the organization sees long-term value in maintaining a strong presence in the German market.
